CALGARY ROYALS BINGOS

Welcome to the 2020-21 Hockey Season!

This year we have made some changes to the Bingo program. Because of the ever changing environment that COVID-19 has created, the outline may change as requirements at the bingo halls change.

Each of the player families will be responsible for 2 bingo shifts – down from the 6 shifts required last year. These shifts will be allocated to the teams and start in November of 2020. These shifts will be tracked by your Team Bingo Coordinator and will not be in Sign Up Genius

For those of you that do not want to work bingos, you can hire a volunteer from our list and pay them to work your shift for you. We do not have the 'Opt Out' program this year.

We do however have Credit Bingos that you can work in advance of November, starting August 20 through to October 31. For the shifts worked in this time period you will receive $75 per shift credited to your 2020-21 fees. These bingos will be tracked in Sign Up Genius.

There will be more credit bingos in the new year that will go up on Sign Up Genius in January – these bingos are for credit in the 2021-22 season.

Full details and explanation will be provided to each of the teams at your first team meeting.

Thank you!

Credit Bingo

We also pick up extra bingo events as they become available and offer these extra shifts to parents to earn credits towards registration and/or team fees as permitted by AGLC. Contact the bingo coordinator to sign up for credit bingos.

The Association's Bingo Director will track credits earned by working casino shifts and credit bingo shifts and provide this information to the administrator so the correct credits can be applied towards registration.

BINGO CHAIRPEOPLE REQUIRED EVERY YEAR - WE WANT YOU..

The Bingo Chairperson role allows interested and qualified parents to earn registration credits by working extra bingo shifts in the Bingo Chairperson role. The pre-requirements to be a Bingo Chair are knowledge through experience in the Paymaster, Bonanza, and Special Games Controller jobs. If interested members do not have the pre-requirements, the Calgary Royals Bingo Director will work on helping interested volunteers get this accomplished before they are scheduled as a Bingo Chair. Below is the Bingo Chair Person's duties document and as detailed as the attached responsibilities may seem it is not a difficult job.

Please note that the Bingo Chair role does have the expectancy of working the minimum membership requirement of 6 bingos per player in addition to any bingo events worked as Chairperson.

VOLUNTEER BOND INFORMATION

The benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and our hockey community.

Volunteering can introduce you to new people.

Can learn new skills or enhance your current skills.

Our children will see how volunteering can make a difference.

It can feel great to help others. You are supporting an activity that your child loves.

Remember: If you don't see an opportunity that you are currently familiar with, please consider trying a ‘new' activity. You may just find a new passion through trying something new!!

Purpose

Encourage Association members to become actively involved in the operation and SUCCESS of Southwest Hockey.

Overview

Many of our members are unaware of how much volunteer work and fundraising is necessary to operate a quality hockey program. The Volunteer Bond Program was introduced in the 2015/2016 season as part of the amalgamation; to encourage members to come forward and help out. The time commitment is reasonable and the help is beneficial and appreciated!!

Participation in this program is mandatory of registration with SW and in no way does it exclude families from volunteering with their player's team.

Value of Bond

$350.00 per family for our Community Program & $200 per family Casino slots with bonus. for House League. It is EACH FAMILY'S OWN responsibility to ensure they meet the program commitment and to ensure they report their credits to the Director of Volunteers.

Note:

  1. If you have a child playing in both the Community Program and House League Program, you MUST fulfill the Volunteer Bond requirements for the Community Program.

Deadline to submit the Volunteer Bond Credit Form is FEBRUARY 15 of the current season.

SW is eligible for an AGLC Casino every two years on average. Dates, details and volunteer opportunities will be provided once the Association receives their assignment.

The raffle is an important fundraiser for the association. It allows SW to offset ice costs that would otherwise have to be paid through registration fees. By raising money through Casinos and Raffles, the Association can keep fees reasonable and keep fee increases to a minimum, while still providing a quality hockey program for our players. Stay tuned for information on dates, details and volunteer opportunities.

Our Association would not exist without the efforts of our Volunteers!!

There are many deserving people and each year we are proud to be able to recognize some of you for your contributions!
